Biden’s executive order strengthens cybersecurity standards

The Biden administration has announced an executive order aimed at establishing stricter cybersecurity standards for companies that do business with the US government.

The order requires software providers to enhance their security practices and disclose relevant information to improve federal digital defenses.

The directive requires vendors to demonstrate secure practices, with certain information to be made publicly available on government websites to enhance transparency.

The General Services Administration is responsible for implementing policies that require cloud service providers to offer detailed security guidance to their clients

The executive order also affects internet-connected devices by introducing the US Cyber Trust Mark label, with the government set to only purchase labeled products by 2027.
