United States President Joe Biden has signed an executive order aimed at enhancing domestic AI infrastructure and addressing related national security concerns.

The order allows the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy to lease federal lands for the construction of large-scale AI data centers.

Developers must fully fund the construction and operation of these facilities while using renewable energy sources to balance their electricity consumption.

Organizations leasing the sites are required to purchase a designated amount of US-made semiconductors and pay their workers prevailing wages.

Developers can submit lease proposals once federal agencies finalize the site selections.
