The Biden administration has requested the Supreme Court to deny President-elect Donald Trump’s request to delay a law that could ban TikTok in the United States unless its Chinese parent company sells it, as oral arguments are set for January 10, 2025.

In a brief filed Friday, the Justice Department argued that TikTok failed to present valid reasons to pause the legislation, citing concerns over potential data collection and propaganda linked to TikTok’s Chinese ownership.

TikTok, in turn, has urged the Court to rule the law’s provisions unconstitutional or temporarily halt enforcement.

The case involves a law mandating ByteDance to divest TikTok’s US operations, with prior rulings supporting it based on national security concerns.
