Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), a new special administrative region in Bhutan, will include digital assets like bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), and binance coin (BNB) in its strategic reserves.

This initiative makes it one of the first jurisdictions worldwide to officially recognize and hold digital assets in reserves.

GMC plans to focus on digital assets that have high market capitalization and liquidity for easier trading with minimal price effects.

Additionally, assets will be selected based on secure and established blockchain networks that permit on-chain transaction monitoring.

This decision follows the enactment of the ‘Application of Laws Act 2024,’ which lays the legal and regulatory foundation for digital asset financial services in GMC.
