India-based fintech BharatPe, which offers payments and lending products for merchants, launched an AI assistant and a credit-awareness feature at Global Fintech Fest 2026 in Mumbai on September 9.

Both are available in the BharatPe for Business app, and the AI assistant is built on Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform.

BharatPe said its Agentic AI offers voice and chat support in multiple languages.

The company said the assistant connects with more than 60 live systems in real time to handle merchant queries, complaints, and chargebacks, and take action on merchants’ behalf.

BharatPe said Credit Coach uses a digital avatar of cricketer Rohit Sharma to explain users’ credit profiles and changes in their credit bureau scores through personalized videos in the BharatPe for Business app, subject to user consent.

The launch comes as India’s digital lending framework requires consent for access to personal and financial data, including credit information.

Draft AI risk guidance for financial services has also stressed governance, model validation, and customer protection.
