Bessemer leads $25m series A in US financial AI startup
Avantos, a company developing an AI-native system for financial institutions, announced the completion of a US$25 million series A funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners.
The funding will support platform expansion, including AI agents and integrations with core financial systems.
This round follows a US$10 million seed round closed in September 2024, totaling US$35 million raised so far.
The round also included investments from Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, SEI, and Vanguard.
Founded by Bassam Chaptini and Rabih Ramadi, Avantos aims to address fragmentation in client onboarding and servicing by providing a unified knowledge graph linking client relationships, products, and workflows.
The system enables AI and human teams to operate with shared context for more personalized, compliant, and scalable client management.
Investors and clients, including Mercer Advisors, Vanguard, Guardian, and SEI, see potential in the platform to improve client relationships and operational efficiency.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Avantos is building an operating system beyond an app
- Avantos calls its product an “AI-native operating system” for financial services. It serves as a base layer that organizes client data and service work at institutional scale 1.
- A knowledge graph runs the platform. The data structure links scattered details about clients, products, and workflows 2.
- That setup lets the system coordinate work across AI agents and human teams. Avantos calls this “AI-driven orchestration” and uses it for tasks such as client onboarding and ongoing servicing 2.
- The software connects with a financial institution’s existing technology. It aims to fit into the current stack rather than replace it 3.
The investment suggests a shift in how enterprises roll out AI
- Support from firms including Vanguard and SEI backs an IT approach that adds AI on top of current systems, instead of costly “rip and replace” rebuilds 4.
- Avantos ties data across existing tools, matching a move away from single all-in-one suites toward integration platforms 3.
- The funding round marks enterprise AI moving past narrow point products into platforms that run whole business functions 5.
- Other industries with legacy technology can follow a similar path, using AI as an operating layer for data and workflows rather than a standalone feature 6.
