Bertelsmann backs India’s retail startup Fairdeal with $15m
Fairdeal.Market, an India-based business-to-business (B2B) quick-commerce platform for kirana stores, has raised US$15 million in a round led by Bertelsmann India Investments, with returning investor WaterBridge Ventures and Incubate Asia Fund also participating.
The company said it delivers more than 1,000 stock-keeping units to retailers across the Delhi National Capital Region within 60 minutes and has grown to more than 20,000 active retailers in the region over the past six months.
Fairdeal said the funding will be used to expand its dark-store network, last-mile delivery, and technology and data systems.
The company also aim to enter additional metro cities in India, with a goal of serving more than 100,000 retailers this financial year.
Fairdeal said it is building a rapid replenishment model for kirana stores.
