Berlin’s RedMimicry raises seed round for cyberattack simulation
RedMimicry, a Berlin-based company that develops a platform to emulate complex cyberattacks, has raised a seven-figure seed round led by High-Tech Gründerfonds.
Other backers in the round include Capital Square, superangels, and several business angels.
The company plans to use the funding to advance its technology and expand its commercial operations, with a focus on attack scenarios impacting critical infrastructure and financial services.
RedMimicry also aims to grow its sales team and partner network.
The platform allows organizations to test their cybersecurity defenses against realistic threats, in line with new regulations such as DORA and NIS-2, which require more comprehensive and frequent security testing.

🧠 Food for thought
1️⃣ EU regulations create mandatory market for attack simulation tools
RedMimicry’s timing aligns with new European regulations that mandate the exact services they provide.
DORA and NIS-2 regulations now require organizations to conduct “comprehensive, regular testing against current threat chains,” as mentioned in their announcement1. This regulatory shift is driving significant demand, with research showing that “regulatory requirements, such as DORA and NIS2, are pushing organizations to adopt BAS solutions for compliance”2.
The regulations target critical infrastructure and financial services, which are the sectors RedMimicry plans to focus their new funding on developing specific threat scenarios for1.
This creates a fundamentally different market dynamic than typical cybersecurity startups face, where compliance becomes a primary purchase driver rather than just security improvement.
Organizations can no longer rely on basic testing approaches since these regulations specifically require validation against realistic, current attack methods2.
2️⃣ Breach simulation market shows explosive projected growth
RedMimicry enters a market experiencing significant growth projections across multiple research firms.
The Breach and Attack Simulation market is projected to grow from $1.05 billion in 2025 to $3 billion by 2030, representing a 23.4% compound annual growth rate2.
