Baillie Gifford, GIC reportedly back $619m MiniMax IPO
Baillie Gifford and Singapore’s GIC have bought shares in MiniMax Group’s HK$4.8 billion (US$619 million) IPO in Hong Kong, according to sources cited by Bloomberg.
MiniMax Group is a Chinese generative AI startup.
Other buyers reportedly include Norway’s Norges Bank Investment Management and asset manager Schroders.
The IPO was priced at the top of its marketed range and saw institutional investors bid for more than 70 times the available shares, excluding cornerstone investors.
More than 460 institutional bids were received for the offering.
Long-only investors and sovereign wealth funds reportedly took up a majority of the institutional shares, excluding the cornerstone tranche.
MiniMax shares are set to start trading in Hong Kong on January 9.
