Baidu said AmiGo, an autonomous ride-pooling service developed with Swiss public bus operator PostBus, received regulatory approval to operate in eastern Switzerland.

The phased rollout includes mapping runs from December 2025, pilot rides with safety drivers in 2026, and fully driverless public operations targeted for the first quarter of 2027, if safety and regulatory requirements are met.

The service will use app-booked electric RT6 vehicles that seat three passengers.

The project is backed by the cantons of St. Gallen, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Appenzell Innerrhoden, and Thurgau, as well as Switzerland’s Federal Office of Transport and the Federal Roads Office.

Swiss regulations that took effect in March 2025 allow cantons to approve routes for remotely monitored automated vehicles operating without a human driver.
