Australia’s Nextdc flags earnings risk over power delay

Nextdc Ltd, an Australian data center operator, requested an immediate trading halt to assess the financial impact of delayed power supply at its M3 facility near Melbourne, including possible implications for its fiscal 2027 guidance.

The company said in a filing to the Australian Securities Exchange that its board had not yet considered the issue. It asked for the halt to remain until it issues an announcement or trading begins on October 21.

M3 is a 225-megawatt data center that serves cloud, AI, and large enterprise customers. The power supply delay could slow the next stage of the facility’s expansion and defer revenue.

Nextdc’s shares have fallen more than 25% this year.

Separately, Victoria has proposed requiring new data centers to secure renewable power, and AusNet maintains a dedicated power connection process. These reports do not establish the cause of the M3 delay.
