Australian AI firm Firmus weighs potential IPO: report
Firmus Technologies Pty, an Australian data center computing provider, is setting up investor meetings next week ahead of a possible Australian Securities Exchange listing, according to people familiar with the matter.
The company has no listing timeline yet. It is drafting a pathfinder prospectus while bankers prepare for a potential initial public offering, according to the report.
Firmus said on September 8 that it would provide OpenAI with computing power from two data center sites in Malaysia. The company also said OpenAI was an anchor customer as Firmus surpassed 900 megawatts of contracted capacity.
In August, Firmus said it had secured US$2 billion in commitments from backers including Jane Street and Nvidia. It described the funding as an equity investment to accelerate Nvidia AI factory expansion across Australia and Asia-Pacific.
Firmus joins other AI companies exploring IPOs. OpenAI and Anthropic are eyeing US listings, according to people familiar with the matter, while Moonshot AI is seeking US$5 billion in a Hong Kong IPO.
