ASML plans retention bonus to keep employees

ASML, a Dutch maker of chip manufacturing equipment, said it plans a one-time 20,000 euros (US$23,000) gross bonus and separate long-term share awards for eligible employees worldwide.

The company added that it is still finalising the terms.

ASML said the shares are meant to retain employees over multiple years, but it has not disclosed detailed vesting conditions or narrower eligibility criteria.

The program could be broad. ASML said it had more than 44,000 employees in 2025. The Brainport cluster around Eindhoven separately includes more than 50,000 workers across 300 semiconductor companies.

The move also fits a wider semiconductor industry push on incentives.

TSMC approved annual bonuses totalling NT$206.15 billion (US$6.38 billion) for 2025, though that is not directly comparable because TSMC’s payout was a profit-linked annual bonus rather than a multi-year retention award.
