The United States Department of Justice has requested the testimony of Dmitry Shevelenko, chief business officer of AI search company Perplexity, in its ongoing antitrust case against Google.

The DOJ plans to question Shevelenko about generative AI’s connections to “Search Access Points,” distribution, entry barriers, expansion, and data sharing, as outlined in a court filing.

“Search Access Points” refers to platforms like Google Chrome, which users use for web searches.

Perplexity is seen as a potential competitor to traditional search engines.
