Asian firms plan bigger AI budgets, Alibaba Cloud says
A NielsenIQ survey commissioned by Alibaba Cloud, Alibaba Group’s cloud unit, found that 95% of IT decision-makers across eight Asian markets planned to increase investment in AI products. Meanwhile 99% said AI was a priority.
Planned budget increases were strongest in infrastructure, with 69% indicating more than 20% growth in infrastructure-as-a-service spending. This was followed by 61% for platform-as-a-service and 58% for model-as-a-service, or MaaS.
In Singapore, 96% of respondents said their organizations were either very positive or cautiously optimistic about adopting AI.
Data analysis was the top use case at 80%, followed by customer service at 75%, and marketing and content creation at 54%.
Alibaba Cloud said the survey spanned eight markets, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand. The announcement did not include a country-by-country sample breakdown or a full methodology.
