Asia tycoon backs $1.5b AI push via private credit fund

Andre Koo Sr., head of Taiwan’s Koo family, has committed at least US$100 million to anchor two new private credit funds focused on AI infrastructure.

The funds, managed by Chailease Holding and Era, aim to raise US$1.5 billion from wealthy investors and institutions.

The funds will back AI infrastructure firms, including some that partner with Nvidia.

A Koo spokesperson confirmed his anchor role but did not specify the investment amount.

The Koo family, whose business interests span finance, real estate, and industry, is among Taiwan’s wealthiest, with a net worth of at least US$7 billion.
