Asia tech stocks rise as Trump pauses Canada, Mexico tariffs

Asian technology stocks saw broad gains on Feb. 4 following United States President Donald Trump’s decision to pause tariffs on Mexico and delay tariffs on Canadian exports for one month.

This development also led to a recovery among US tech stocks late Feb. 3.

In Japan, semiconductor companies led the rally.

Taiwan’s Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and electronics manufacturer Foxconn recorded increases of 2.8%.

South Korean tech stocks also showed a positive trend. In Hong Kong, Chinese tech giants posted strong performances.

These gains occur despite ongoing tariff concerns, with US tariffs on China still in effect.
