Asia-Pacific tech deals set to stay strong into 2026: UBS

Tech dealmaking in Asia-Pacific is expected to remain strong into the first half of 2026, according to UBS Group.

Axel Granger, co-head of technology, media, and telecommunications investment banking for UBS in Asia Pacific, said activity picked up in Q2 2025 after a slow start and continued to accelerate through the year.

Unlike the US, where investments have focused on AI and high valuations, Asia has seen deals spread across a wider range of tech sectors, including internet-related assets.

UBS has advised on major 2025 deals, including Alibaba’s US$3.2 billion convertible bond sale, Wistron’s almost US$1 billion global depositary share sale, and a US$1.2 billion convertible bond offering.

Granger noted there is significant pent-up demand among global investors to deploy capital in Asia, where concerns over valuations are less pronounced.

He added that untapped liquidity could further boost equity markets in the region.
