Arm launches AI unit for robotics, autos

Arm Holdings has launched a new Physical AI division as part of a reorganization aimed at expanding its presence in the robotics and automotive sectors.

The UK-based company, which designs chip technology used in most smartphones and other devices, now operates three business lines: Cloud and AI, Edge—including mobile devices and PCs—and Physical AI.

The new unit combines robotics and automotive, citing similar customer requirements for power, safety, and reliability.

Arm executives said the company will add staff to the Physical AI division to focus on robotics.

Arm’s automotive and robotics revenue remains unclear after reorg
