Apple plans to update its AI summary feature following criticism for inaccuracies that could lead to misinformation, particularly after the BBC complained about a misrepresented news story regarding a shooting suspect.

The feature, available on iPhones and other devices, condenses lengthy notifications but has faced scrutiny for errors, including suggesting that the suspect had shot himself.

Currently in beta mode, these summaries are generated on users’ devices and aim to help them scan for important details while remaining optional.

Apple acknowledges ongoing refinements are necessary as users report multiple errors since the feature’s introduction last summer.
