Apple unveils iPhone duo as its first foldable
Apple unveiled the foldable iPhone Duo and the iPhone 18 Pro lineup on September 9.
The launch was John Ternus’ first as chief executive after Apple announced in April that Tim Cook would become executive chairman and Ternus would take the top job.
The iPhone Duo has a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer screen.
It uses Apple’s A20 Pro chip, starts at US$1,999, and will go on sale on October 23 after pre-orders open on October 16.
Apple also raised the starting prices of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max to US$1,199 and US$1,299.
The company said Apple Reference Image and support for SynthID would not be available in the European Union or China.
Apple said Siri AI would work with more than 300,000 apps at launch and could perform actions across Apple and third-party apps.
It also introduced new Apple Watch and AirPods models.
The launch moves Apple into foldable smartphones, a category that International Data Corporation said in December 2025 could grow 30% year on year worldwide.
