Apple, SpaceX, T-Mobile test Starlink on iPhones

Apple is working with SpaceX and T-Mobile to integrate Starlink satellite support into iPhones, offering an alternative to its existing satellite communication service.

Recent iOS 18.3 updates quietly enabled Starlink connectivity, allowing T-Mobile iPhone users to access satellite-based texting in areas without cellular service.

The beta test, initially limited to a small group, is expected to expand in February.

Unlike Apple’s Globalstar service, which requires users to point their phone at the sky, Starlink works automatically, even from a pocket.

Currently, the program is available only in the US and supports texting.

SpaceX and T-Mobile plan to expand the service globally and add more features.
