Apple rolls out revamped Siri with AI upgrades
Apple outlined the next version of Apple Intelligence at its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 9, including a revamped Siri.
In a joint statement, Apple and Google said future Apple Intelligence features will use Google’s Gemini models and cloud technology.
Apple said the new Siri will launch in beta this fall, in English first, after the company delayed features from its 2024 Apple Intelligence preview.
Apple said Apple Intelligence will reach the European Union (EU) later because of regulatory requirements, including Digital Markets Act interoperability work.
It also will not be available in China at first while Apple works through local regulatory requirements for AI services.
Apple shares briefly rose more than 3% during the presentation before ending down about 0.7%, suggesting a tepid investor response.
Apple also announced performance and security updates, child safety features, improved search across its operating systems, and a new macOS called Golden Gate.
The company additionally introduced tweaks to its Liquid Glass design after some users said the interface made text difficult to read.
