Apple moves to dismiss xAI lawsuit over OpenAI partnership

Apple is seeking to dismiss a lawsuit from Elon Musk’s xAI and X Corp. over its decision to partner with OpenAI for generative AI features in iOS.

Apple told a Texas court that its partnership with OpenAI does not violate any laws, and said it plans to work with other AI chatbot providers in the future.

Musk’s companies sued Apple and OpenAI in August, alleging that Apple’s collaboration with OpenAI limited competition in the AI industry and reduced consumer choice.

Apple argued in its filing that the claims from Musk’s companies are speculative and not supported by antitrust law.

The company also said it is not required to partner with every AI chatbot on the market.

The case is being heard in Fort Worth, Texas.
