Apple lags in global smartphone growth, Samsung leads
Global smartphone sales rose by 4% in 2024 compared to 2023, according to Counterpoint Research.
However, Apple experienced a 2% decline in iPhone sales, partly due to the delayed introduction of its AI system, Apple Intelligence.
Samsung retained its status as the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, reporting a 1% increase in sales.
Nonetheless, its market share decreased from 20% to 19%, influenced by strong sales growth from Chinese brands.
Xiaomi saw a notable 12% rise in sales, securing third place with a 14% market share.
Vivo experienced a 9% increase, holding fifth position with an 8% market share, while Oppo, also at 8% market share, dropped by 9% in sales.
