Apple said at its Worldwide Developers Conference in Cupertino that AI features built partly on Google technology, including Gemini models, will roll out across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and other platforms later this year .

Apple said many Apple Intelligence requests stay on-device, while more complex queries can be processed through Private Cloud Compute using only the data relevant to the task before the data is removed.

The move extends Apple’s use of external models. Siri and other Apple Intelligence tools can already tap into ChatGPT for some requests.

Apple also said Siri’s broader AI upgrade follows an earlier delay.

The company had previously said those features would take longer and that it expected to roll them out in 2026.

Apple now describes Siri around on-screen context, app actions, and more back-and-forth responses.

Some competition experts have warned that the partnership could further entrench dominant platforms, given Apple and Google’s existing search relationship.
