Apple elevates hardware chief during leadership transition
Apple is putting increased focus on John Ternus, its senior vice president of hardware engineering, as leadership changes begin to take shape within the company.
This shift follows the planned departure of chief operating officer Jeff Williams, who will leave later this year, leaving CEO Tim Cook without a clear second-in-command.
Ternus has become a key figure in product strategy, leading major device launches and taking on expanded responsibilities.
Recent internal promotions include Fletcher Rothkopf, Omar Alwarid, and Ivan Krstic to vice president roles in hardware engineering, operations, and security engineering, respectively.
Apple has also paused development of a lighter, cheaper “Vision Air” headset to concentrate on smart glasses, while updates to the Vision Pro and iPad Pro are expected soon.
Apple will release its Q4 earnings on October 30, which will provide an early look at the performance of the iPhone 17 and other new products.
