Skyworks Solutions, a supplier of radio frequency chips to Apple and other smartphone makers, recently held talks to acquire rival Qorvo, according to a report by The Information that cited people familiar with the matter.

Qorvo, which designs chips for wireless communication and other applications, has a market cap of US$8.5 billion and trades on the Nasdaq.

Skyworks, with a market cap of US$11.3 billion and over 10,000 employees as of 2024, manufactures analog and mixed-signal chips for use in wireless, automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics.

Skyworks and Qorvo did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the reported acquisition talks.
