Apple AI exec Ke Yang said to exit for Meta
Ke Yang, the executive leading Apple’s AI-driven web search team, is leaving the company to join Meta, according to sources familiar with the matter.
Yang recently took charge of Apple’s Answers, Knowledge, and Information (AKI) group, which is developing new features for Siri to enhance its ability to retrieve information from the web.
The AKI team is central to an upcoming Siri revamp planned for March as Apple seeks to compete with OpenAI, Google, and Perplexity in the AI-powered search market.
Yang’s departure follows several other high-profile exits from Apple’s AI division this year, including the founder of its Apple Foundation Models team, Ruoming Pang.
Apple is moving the AKI team under Benoit Dupin, who oversees machine learning-related cloud infrastructure.
The company has reportedly been interviewing outside replacements for John Giannandrea, Apple’s senior vice president of AI and machine learning, as it faces ongoing talent losses in its AI organization.
