Apollo, Blackstone shop $36b AI deal for Anthropic
Apollo Global Management and Blackstone are seeking additional investors for about US$36 billion in debt financing to help Anthropic build AI infrastructure expansion.
The deal would support computing capacity built on Google technology.
The financing structure would fund computing equipment for Anthropic, while Broadcom would backstop payments on the largest portions of the transaction, supporting its credit quality, the report said.
The move builds on Anthropic’s existing TPU relationship with Google.
Anthropic had signed a new agreement with Google and Broadcom for multiple gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity, after earlier expanding its use of Google Cloud TPUs, which Google has offered to outside cloud customers.
Anthropic also raised US$30 billion in series G funding in February 2026 at a US$380 billion post-money valuation.
Comparable debt-backed AI infrastructure deals have emerged elsewhere, including CoreWeave, a US cloud computing company focused on AI workloads, which secured US$7.5 billion in debt financing in May 2024 to expand compute capacity.
