Apollo, Blackstone finalize $35b Anthropic financing
Apollo Global Management and Blackstone finalized a US$35 billion financing package for Anthropic, according to a report.
The financing will fund Google’s custom chips that Anthropic will lease for its AI infrastructure. Broadcom, a US-based chip designer, will guarantee payments on the US$30 billion senior portions of the debt, a structure that helped lower borrowing costs.
Roughly half of the debt was syndicated to other investors. The package includes US$6 billion of A1 notes, US$24 billion of A2 notes, and US$4.5 billion of higher-yield B notes, plus US$800 million in equity from Apollo’s Atlas SP Partners structured-finance unit.
The deal follows Anthropic’s confidential initial public offering filing in the US. It also comes after the company was reportedly valued at US$965 billion in a recent funding round, with annualized revenue reportedly reaching US$47 billion in May.
