The Asia-Pacific Data Centre Association (APDCA) has released a KPMG report evaluating the economic impact of Malaysia’s data center industry.

The study forecasts that the sector could generate around US$34 billion in economic output and create 30,900 jobs by 2030, increasing from the projected US$1.4 billion and 4,400 jobs for 2024.

Commissioned by the APDCA, this report is the first comprehensive analysis of Malaysia’s data centre sector.

It highlights the industry’s contribution to economic growth, digital transformation, and the provision of high-value employment opportunities.

The findings indicate that each direct job in the sector supports an additional 3.2 jobs in other areas of the economy.
