Anthropic in talks for $45b Nscale cloud computing deal
Nscale, a UK-based AI cloud computing and data center developer, is in talks to sell more computing capacity to Anthropic at its Monarch data center campus in West Virginia, in a deal that could be worth about US$45 billion.
No final decisions have been made.
A filing for Nscale’s initial public offering showed Anthropic already has infrastructure agreements with the company worth up to about US$44.6 billion.
The proposed second Monarch building would provide 460 megawatts of capacity using Nvidia’s Vera Rubin chips, which Nvidia has positioned for next-generation AI workloads.
Another large contract could support Nscale’s initial public offering plans as it seeks a valuation of about US$30 billion, after some investors urged the company to lower that target.
Anthropic has also agreed to build models on Google Cloud and will use chips from Amazon under separate computing agreements.
