Anthropic set for second straight profitable quarter

Anthropic, a US-based AI startup, told shareholders that its adjusted operating income will be positive for a second straight quarter, according to a September 13 report citing multiple people with knowledge of the matter.

The report said Anthropic’s gross margins were above 80% before accounting for revenue shared with distribution partners, including Amazon, and the cost of training its AI model.

The report could not be independently verified.

Anthropic had US$3 billion in annualized revenue in May 2025, offering a benchmark for the company’s scale at the time.

Anthropic’s ties with Amazon matter to its economics. Amazon agreed in 2023 to invest up to US$4 billion. That commitment later grew to US$25 billion alongside a cloud spending agreement.
