Anthropic revises share trading warning after objections

Anthropic PBC revised a warning about unauthorized trading of its shares, cutting the number of named secondary-market platforms to four from eight after some firms objected.

The updated notice said offers involving Anthropic stock from Open Door Partners, Unicorns Exchange, Pachamama, and Upmarket were unauthorized under the company’s transfer restrictions.

It added that any sale without board approval was void and gave buyers no shareholder rights.

Hiive, a private-market trading platform, was removed from the earlier list.

Its CEO, Sim Desai, said Hiive only facilitates transfers approved by the issuing company and that Anthropic’s initial post confused investors and damaged Hiive’s reputation.

The dispute comes amid demand for Anthropic shares in private markets.

OpenAI also used similar language to warn buyers that unauthorized transfers, including special purpose vehicle structures, may be worthless.
