Anthropic has hired law firm Wilson Sonsini to assist with preparations for a possible IPO as early as 2026, according to sources.
The San Francisco-based AI startup is also in talks for a private funding round that could value the company between US$300 billion and US$350 billion.
It has held informal discussions with major investment banks but has not selected underwriters.
Wilson Sonsini has worked with Anthropic since 2022, including advising on investments from Amazon.
The company recently appointed Krishna Rao, former Airbnb executive, as CFO to help with IPO readiness.
An Anthropic spokesperson said no decisions have been made about if or when to go public.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Anthropic’s IPO preparations raise valuation questions amid limited public financial detail
- Revenue run rate climbed from $1 billion in early 2025 to over $5 billion by August, and could near $10 billion by year-end 12. A $300 to $400 billion valuation in late 2025 assumes high growth with quick profits 2, which may be hard at that size.
- The Series F round put post-money at $183 billion 1. The firm has not shared gross margins or customer acquisition costs 2. It has not disclosed long-term compute spend with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure 2. That gap clouds profit models and unit economics with OpenAI. Management targets profit by 2028 2. It also signed a $50 billion deal with Fluidstack, a cloud compute provider 2.
Third-party service providers can capitalize on Claude’s enterprise expansion by targeting regulated verticals
- Large accounts rose nearly 7x in one year 1. EMEA hiring spans over 100 roles in Dublin and London with a research office in Zurich 3. Deepsense.ai says it delivers secure on-premises Claude setups without external application programming interface (API) data transfer for finance, healthcare, and government 4.
- Deloitte is training 15,000 certified professionals under a partnership 5. Scale is partnering as an enterprise AI data and tooling provider with deployment tools 6. Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI coding assistant, has a $500 million run-rate and 10x usage growth in three months 1. Enterprises modernizing legacy code, like IBM’s Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL) Project Bob planned for 2026 2, need governance to control AI spend.
