Anthropic reportedly eyes $9b annualized revenue by end of 2025
Anthropic, a San Francisco-based AI startup backed by Google and Amazon, is targeting US$9 billion in annualized revenue by the end of 2025, according to sources.
Its annualized revenue run rate is approaching US$7 billion this month, up from over US$5 billion in August.
Enterprise customers make up about 80% of its revenue, with more than 300,000 business and enterprise clients.
The company, which develops the Claude family of large language models, recently launched Haiku 4.5, its lowest-cost AI model, to attract more companies.
Anthropic was valued at US$183 billion after raising US$13 billion in a funding round led by Iconiq.
It projects up to US$26 billion in revenue for 2026 and plans to expand internationally, including opening an office in Bengaluru, India.

🧠 Food for thought
Implications, context, and why it matters.
Enterprise AI revenue doesn’t equal sustainable profit margins
- Anthropic’s projected $20–26 billion in 2026 annualized revenue looks large, but AI model vendors often run at 50–60% gross margins, below Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) levels of 70–80% 1.
- Morgan Stanley expects AWS to earn $1.28 billion from Anthropic in 2025, rising to $5.6 billion by 2027, which sends revenue back to cloud providers 2.
- No disclosed cloud compute obligations with AWS and Google (credits, minimum-spend commitments, prepayments). That leaves unit economics uncertain. Growth may be propped up by partner terms that could fade at scale.
Third-party integration opportunities sit atop Claude’s enterprise base
- About 80% of revenue comes from 300,000+ enterprise customers. That creates room for implementation partners, governance-security vendors, and generative AI (GenAI) Financial Operations (FinOps) platforms 34. They can build around Claude via Bedrock (AWS’s managed service for accessing foundation models), Vertex AI (Google Cloud’s AI platform), or the direct application programming interface (API).
- AWS lets channel partners resell Bedrock, including models from providers such as Anthropic with limits, through its Solution Provider and Distribution programs 5. This opens work for systems integrators (consultancies that assemble and implement complex IT solutions) and value-added resellers to bundle implementation, compliance, and optimization services.
- Vendors can offer workflow automation and cost optimization platforms 64. They can add prompt engineering tools (software that helps design and manage model prompts). Target sectors where Claude has traction include financial services, healthcare, legal, and coding. Customers include Pfizer, Thomson Reuters, and DoorDash.
