Anthropic, a US AI startup behind the Claude chatbot, told prospective investors that preliminary second-quarter 2026 revenue exceeded US$11.5 billion, up at least 14x from US$787 million a year earlier.

The figure refers to revenue in Anthropic’s latest completed quarter rather than an annualized run rate.

Revenue also rose from US$4.73 billion in the first quarter, while adjusted operating income turned positive in the second quarter, though the numbers could still change.

Anthropic has filed confidentially for an initial public offering and is working with Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs Group Inc, and JPMorgan Chase & Co on the listing.

The company was valued at US$96.5 billion post-money in its series H financing and is competing with OpenAI for enterprise customers.

OpenAI’s annual revenue run rate was over US$40 billion, though the figures may not be calculated the same way.
