Anthropic has partnered with Macquarie Asset Management and Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC to form Theseus Infrastructure, a vehicle to develop AI computing sites initially focused on the US.

Macquarie and GIC will provide most of the equity for each project, while Anthropic will cover any increases in consumer electricity prices tied to the facilities.

The companies did not disclose planned spending or project capacity.

The partnership brings in digital infrastructure investors with existing exposure to AI data centers.

Macquarie Asset Management recently committed more than US$17 billion to AI-focused data center deals, while GIC led a US$1.6 billion investment in Vantage Data Centers’ Asia-Pacific platform.

Separately, a Google-arranged financing structure was set to fund about US$35 billion of tensor processing unit hardware to be leased to Anthropic through a special-purpose vehicle.

Anthropic’s electricity-cost pledge addresses a broader US issue as utilities often spread the cost of new infrastructure built for large electricity users, including data centers, across other customers.
