Anthropic opens Seoul office as Korea adoption grows

Anthropic opened a Seoul office on Wednesday as the US AI company behind Claude expanded in South Korea.

The company said Naver had introduced Claude Code across its engineering unit. Nexon, LG CNS, and Samsung SDS were introducing or expanding their use of Anthropic’s tools.

Anthropic said it would work with the National AI Research Lab consortium. The  government-backed initiative has planned 94.6 billion won (US$62.4 million) funding through 2028.

The move aligns with South Korea’s AI policy, after the 2024 Seoul Declaration linked safety, innovation, and inclusivity. The country’s AI Basic Act took effect in January 2026.
