Anthropic has appointed Rahul Patil, former Stripe CTO, as its new chief technical officer.

Patil takes over from co-founder Sam McCandlish, who will now serve as chief architect, focusing on pre-training and large-scale model training.

Both Patil and McCandlish will report to Anthropic president Daniela Amodei.

As CTO, Patil will oversee compute, infrastructure, inference, and other engineering functions, while the company reorganizes its core technical team to bring product engineering closer to infrastructure and inference groups.
