Anthropic launches cyber program for critical infrastructure
Anthropic launched its Cyber Mission on October 8 to support defenders of critical infrastructure and open-source software with AI tools, engineering support, and funding.
Its Critical Infrastructure Defense Program targets service providers that help infrastructure operators secure operational technology systems such as power, water, manufacturing, and transport networks.
CrowdStrike said it has partnered with Anthropic on an offering that combines CrowdStrike’s security tools with Anthropic’s AI models.
Anthropic also introduced OSS Scanner, a free, opt-in service for open-source projects that can handle vulnerability reports.
The reports are AI-generated without human review and may contain inaccuracies. Earlier this week, Anthropic folded Project Glasswing into its Cyber Verification Program, broadening eligible defenders’ access to its models.
Google said automated security findings can create extra triage work for maintainers, while Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF) discussions warned that AI-generated disclosures can add low-quality noise.
The launch fits a broader trend of vendors marketing AI-enabled cyber defense tools to critical infrastructure operators.
