Anthropic launches AI code review tool for enterprise devs

Anthropic, a US AI startup, launched Code Review inside Claude Code to automate pull request reviews for enterprise users.

Cat Wu, Anthropic’s head of product, said enterprise adoption of Claude Code raised pull request volumes and created review bottlenecks.

Code Review is in research preview, arriving first for Claude for Teams and Claude for Enterprise customers, and it integrates with GitHub to analyze pull requests and post inline comments focused on logic errors.

Anthropic said the tool runs multiple agents in parallel that examine code from different angles and then aggregate and rank issues by severity using color labels.

Pricing is token-based, with estimating per-review costs of about US$15 to US$25 on average, depending on code complexity.

The company said its enterprise subscriptions have quadrupled since the start of the year and that Claude Code’s run-rate revenue has surpassed US$2.5 billion since launch.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Claude’s new feature targets enterprise workflow, not only developer tasks

  • GitHub Copilot centers on individual coding speed through tools like autocompletion. Anthropic is going after team review work instead 1.
  • The Code Review tool runs pull request checks inside Claude Code. It connects with GitHub, finds logic errors, and posts inline comments 1.
  • Claude for Enterprise is being adopted in finance and healthcare for work like risk assessment and forecasting 1.
  • Claude can come with higher upfront costs, with ROI (return on investment) as the payoff. Copilot is described as cheaper to buy and simpler to roll out 1.

Anthropic’s legal fight could reshape how AI firms work with government

  • The lawsuits test whether AI companies can keep ethics rules in government contracts, including bans on autonomous weapons or mass surveillance of Americans 2.
  • The Department of Defense used a “supply chain risk” designation against a U.S. company. It is described as unprecedented, and it blocks defense work tied to the Department of Defense 2.
  • The dispute has split parts of the tech industry. An OpenAI robotics executive resigned to protest her company’s Pentagon (the Department of Defense) deal 2.
  • More than 30 AI developers from competitors, including Google’s chief scientist Jeff Dean, filed a legal brief supporting Anthropic’s stance on AI safety 2.
