Anthropic said on October 27 that it had expanded its agreement with the US General Services Administration (GSA), offering federal agencies a 40% discount on Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government, and the Claude API. The discount are availanle through direct purchases now and through cloud providers in the coming months.

The pricing also extends to state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, with no minimum spending commitment. Anthropic said about 500 government organizations across the federal, state, and local levels use Claude, and estimated that the discounts would save the government US$1 billion.

The offer is part of GSA’s broader OneGov buying framework. Anthropic previously expanded Claude access across the three branches of the US government.

The move follows GSA’s similar discount for OpenAI’s ChatGPT, as the government pushes for centrally negotiated AI pricing.

The White House budget office has issued guidance on efficient AI acquisition in government.
