Anthropic drops pursuit of $6b Decart AI deal
Anthropic PBC has decided not to acquire Decart AI after exploring a deal and conducting due diligence, according to people familiar with the matter.
Anthropic had discussed buying Decart for about US$6 billion, though no deal was finalized. The companies could still pursue other forms of collaboration, one person said.
Decart, an Israel-based AI infrastructure startup founded in 2023 by engineers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf, and Moshe Shalev, makes software that helps chips run AI training and inference more efficiently.
Inference refers to running AI models after training. The startup said in May that it raised US$300 million in a funding round valued at almost US$4 billion.
The decision still leaves room for a partnership with Anthropic, which in April 2026 expanded its collaboration with Amazon and in May 2026 acquired API tooling company Stainless.
