Anthropic to drop 30-day data rule for enterprises
Anthropic said on September 1 it would drop the 30-day data retention rule for traffic on its Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models after pushback from business customers, replacing it with Enterprise Frontier Safeguards.
Anthropic introduced the policy in June alongside Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 to retain data for safety reviews related to misuse and “complex and novel” cyberattacks.
It said the retained data would not be used for model training or other non-safety-related purposes.
The company said the new controls would let enterprise customers manage data review, storage, and handling, and enable automated safety monitoring without human review by Anthropic.
It said it would offer the feature at no charge whether customers use its technology directly or through a cloud provider.
The rollout will happen in phases, with broader availability planned for this fall.
Anthropic also unveiled Claude Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1 on September 1. Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 launched on June 9.
The change also comes after OpenAI earlier this month introduced its own data retention solution.
