Anthropic adds memory, ChatGPT import tools to Claude
Anthropic said the memory feature was offered to Claude users beginning March 2.
It also added a copy-and-paste tool to help new subscribers import chat histories from AI chatbots such as ChatGPT.
The company said free active users rose more than 60% and daily signups quadrupled since January. These moves came after a dispute with the US Defense Department that led President Donald Trump to order agencies to remove Claude and for the Pentagon to label Anthropic a supply-chain risk.
Claude experienced an hours-long service disruption on March 2 amid what Anthropic called “unprecedented demand.”
OpenAI announced it would deploy its AI models within the Defense Department’s classified network, prompting some users to call for a boycott of ChatGPT.
