Ant International, the Singapore-based digital payments and fintech arm of Ant Group, has opened a Global Development Centre in Kuala Lumpur, with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim at the launch.

Ant said it has created about 1,500 fintech jobs in Malaysia, with more than half in technology.

It also said about half of its tech team are recent graduates from more than 30 Malaysian universities.

Ant said its EPOS360 AI-as-a-Service platform, launched with TNG Digital in January 2026, now serves more than 14,000 small and medium-sized enterprises in Malaysia.

Its payments business in Malaysia runs through partners including PayNet, Malaysia’s national payments network; TNG Digital, the operator of Touch ’n Go eWallet; and CIMB, a Malaysian banking group.

Ant said spending through Alipay+ partner wallets via DuitNow rose more than 60% in the first half of 2026, while Alipay+ accounts for more than 80% of cross-border quick response code payments on DuitNow.

The company said the Kuala Lumpur center supports Malaysia’s AI Nation 2030 vision.
