Animoca Brands leads $10m seed round for Web3 platform KapKap

KapKap, a Web3 platform that uses AI for attention-based value distribution in gaming, has raised a total of US$10 million across seed and strategic rounds.

The seed round was led by Animoca Brands, with participation from Shima Capital, Mechanism Capital, Klaytn Foundation, and Big Brain Holdings. Unicorn Verse, Rzong Capital, and BGX Capital joined the most recent strategic round.

The company will use the funds to grow its KAPS (Key Attention Pricing System) reputation system, expand collaborations with game developers, and launch new casual titles.

KapKap has partnerships with brands such as BAYC, ApeCoin DAO, and SNK, and works with games like Summon of Glory and Idle Knights.

The platform reports over 1.7 million monthly active users and 25,000 daily active users.

KapKap holds licensing rights to SNK IPs, including The King of Fighters and Samurai Shodown, through Summon of Glory, and has introduced a BAYC-themed NFT hero series.

It focuses on converting user activity into reputation and digital value through its proprietary system.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

KAPS lacks clarity on how value is shared

  • The article skips how KAPS prices attention and shares value. It never says whether it uses a token model, how rewards are issued, or which blockchain (“chain”) it runs on.
  • Public documentation mentions the $KAP token of KAP Games/Kapital DAO (a separate gaming infrastructure project; a DAO is a decentralized autonomous organization). The piece gives no link between KapKap’s KAPS and KAP Games’ $KAP 1.
  • Lack of detail on any KAPS-to-token swap, reward schedules, or the regulatory footing keeps sustainability and legal risk unclear, even with 1.7 million monthly users.

Vendors can plug in as KapKap grows developer partnerships

  • New funding and more developer partnerships open doors for Business-to-Business (B2B) providers. They can bring Software Development Kit (SDK) tools and anti-bot checks to block automated abuse. Know Your Customer (KYC) and payout rails plus analytics also fit.
  • Providers offering multi-signature wallet security (transactions requiring approval from multiple keys), cross-chain interoperability (moving assets plus data across different blockchains), and role-based access/asset management could serve KapKap’s institutional gaming clients.
  • KapKap cites SNK partnerships and Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collaborations. Vendors that focus on non-fungible token (NFT) authentication, royalty tracking, and intellectual property (IP) compliance tooling have clear entry points.
