AMD forecasts 2027 growth above estimates on data center chips
AMD forecast revenue growth of more than 80% in 2027, above analysts’ estimate of 77%, driven largely by its data center chip business.
The chipmaker expects fourth-quarter revenue of about US$17 billion, plus or minus 3%, ahead of analysts’ estimate of US$16.23 billion.
Third-quarter data center revenue rose 97% to US$8.55 billion, helping lift total revenue 45% to US$13.38 billion.
Chief executive Lisa Su said data center chips will generate 80% of AMD’s sales next year. Revenue from the client and gaming segment, which includes PC and console chips, fell 8% to US$3.72 billion.
High-bandwidth memory remains scarce across the semiconductor industry. SK hynix said its HBM is sold out through 2029.
Microsoft said it will deploy next-generation AMD Instinct accelerators and EPYC processors. US export controls on advanced AI chips to China remain a potential constraint on demand for high-end accelerators.
